Meet the Artist

|
Hello, I'm Nancy
Capuano. I am a decorative and folk art painter. Sixteen years ago I painted a wooden
chest for a customer and this changed my direction in art entirely. My decorative painted pieces have been exhibited in a number of juried shows where they have been overwhelmingly accepted for their uniqueness. I am a member of the National Society of Tole and Decorative Painters and for the past three years I have been a finalist in the prestigious Decorative Arts Awards Contest sponsored by the society. At the 1998 convention in Phoenix, Arizona, I won Honorable Mention for my "Treasured Memories". My creativity and notability of style have often been compared to that of Peter Ompir. I paint using acrylics, mostly on old collectibles and antiques. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Upon graduation I was the Art Supervisor for the Verona School District outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I retired from teaching to get married and raise four children. During this time I continued to paint, concentrating on landscapes in oils. I live, with my husband, Joe, on a sixty-three acre farm in Middlesex Township near Carlisle, Pennsylvania. I have a gift shop in a 215 year old farm house along the world famous Letort Trout Stream. |
